Fresh Produce started in 2002 with little to no real vision. I honestly just wanted to use film and video to express what I was writing at the time. Not long after, I partnered with Ayo Okunseinde and began a series of film festivals around the DC called Fresh Produce Film Festival. Over time, I began penning a script about sex in DC. That script became Merser Piece Meets O (MPMO). Since then, Fresh Produce has collaborated with local groups and artists to produce, promote or enhance events from educational-panel discussions to television shows on hip hop and the urban experience.
Fresh Produce Entertainment Group (fpeg.com) is now focused on offering intimate views of urban life through film, stage, and print media outlets. The purpose of this reading is to introduce my script to the public in a cost effective and creative environment while simultaneously laying the groundwork for its path to a big screen premier and leveling foundation for fpeg’s growing stage presence in DC’s local arts community.
